Greetings, fellow humans!

Sitting beside younger siblings or cousins, half-watching a cartoon and half-waiting for it to end. You expect it to be childish and boring. But then you realized something. Hidden behind the innocent jokes was a powerful message. A moment that wasn't meant for the kids at all, it was meant for you.

That’s exactly what happened to me recently. When I was little, I was obsessed with The Amazing World of Gumball. However, as life goes on, my obsession faded into childhood memories, and I forgot about it, until.. One day, I stumbled across a clip again. Just a random YouTube scroll moment, and..  wow.

I started watching the show again, this time with older eyes. And suddenly, I saw things I never noticed before. The jokes hit differently; it was deep. Here is one of my favorite songs in the series, it is called My Little Ones, sung by Gumball’s dad, Richard.

"I remember when you were still little, my little ones

I was the giant, who picked you up when you fell down

We laughed every day as the world went around

I was the hero who taught you how to talk and walk

Now you're no longer so little, my little ones

You’ll see so much more than I ever will see

And though I’m just Dad, not a hero

Being just Dad’s good enough for me"

Ugh.. Instant tears.. :'DD

That song hit me right in the chest. Not just because it's sweet, but because it reminded me of my own parents, of everything they gave up just so I could go further than they ever did. The sacrifices they made without complaint. Living far away from them now has made me appreciate all of it even more. Every call, every hug when I visit home, it all means more. It makes me hold on just a little tighter.

One day, when I have my own children, I want to sing that song too. Maybe they won’t fully get the meaning at first. But I hope they'll remember how it felt. That we loved them, no matter what.
